When I gave a presentation on making your website a lead generating machine to a woman's group I mentioned that when sending emails it's not all about "selling". It's about providing about 80% information and then perhaps 20% offering a product or service.
That being said you don't have to offer anything at all. Your email could be pure information that your list could use and find value in.
The important thing to keep in mind is that you want to be reaching out to your email list and building the know, like and trust factor. If you constantly bombard them will "buy my product" they will quickly leave.
