Guest Blogging... First let me say I am no stranger to webinars. I can’t even begin to tell you how many I've attended and continue to attend. My goal is to find out who has value and what can that value translate to when it comes to helping my clients. That being said recently I attended another one on blogging. One thing is consistent with this topic and that is “Guest Blogging”. What does guest blogging entail? As the title says you are “guest blogging” on someone else’s site. You may be asked to do this or you may actively seek out blogs that you can write a guest post on. Why would you want to guest blog? First you get to build a new relationship with the owner of the website where you will be guest blogging. Relationships are the corner stone of your business. It's really amazing how beneficial these new relationships can be. Once you build a repor with the owners of these sites they may even be joint venture partners in the future . As you meet more and more blog owners you become aware that we are a large community seeking to offer our information and inspiration. I love being able to meet others this way! Second you are reaching an entirely new audience who could really use your valuable insights. Third you can share your expertise helping even more people benefit from your content and isn't that why we do what we do? Fourth you are gaining more visibility. Fifth you will be driving traffic back to your site as your article will have a link back to it. That is a must have. Make sure that the owner of the site agrees to include it. This also helps with search engine optimization. Many blog owners will not want you "self promoting" but in the author bio they will have a link back to your site. Sixth you are able to offer fresh content to the site you will be guest blogging on. The owner of that website gets a day off from blogging while still providing information to their audience. We've talked about why you want to Guest Blog but now you're wondering "how"? One way is to consistently blog on your own site. Many blog owners will want to visit your site to get a feel for your writing style. Next, start visiting the sites you'd like to blog on and become active. In other words start commenting on their posts. You want to say more that "good" job or "nice post". Use the three letter word: "ask". Reach out to the blog owner and ask about the possibility of you guest blogging. Many sites also have a page that shows you the requirements they have before you can submit a guest post. Building a community is powerful. On a recent episode of Shark Tank a woman who made clothing for babies said she was blogging about her business. Then she had a miscarriage and was devastated. When she blogged about what happened she received an outpouring of love and support from other mother's who followed her. That made a huge difference in her getting through the difficult situation. That's what building a community is all about. Now that you've seen 6 reasons to Guest Blog have you thought of any other benefits? I'd love for you to share your thoughts below.
