I think we'd all agree that everyday we are bombarded with emails, commercials, advertisements etc. What is it that captures our attention and makes us listen?
Watch this TED talk given by Seth Godin and find out....
It doesn't matter what business you are in. You want your ideas to spread. The question is how do you do that? My Dad always talked about building his business on word of mouth. If you think that's not a valid from of marketing your business or that it doesn't work watch this video.
Seth had my attention from the moment he talked about bread and here's why. Sliced bread has been around my whole life. I remember the Wonder Bread commercials. What I didn't know was that sliced bread was a failure at first. Can you imagine? How could we have grilled cheese sandwiches or peanut butter and jelly!
As a business owner this fact alone should have your attention as well. You might be thinking what you have to offer isn't working or won't work when you should be asking how can I make this remarkable?
The video is about 17 minutes long and if you truly want to grow your business then take the time to watch it. Afterwards sit back and think:
Do I have what people want?
How can I give that to them?
Where are the people who will listen to my message?
When do I start using the right marketing platforms?
Another key point brought out in the video was the use of images. Did you miss that point? Seth said: it has to do with design. You have to have design work for you. Think about the box of cereal you buy. What's on the cover? What captures your attention? The same holds true for a book over. People will buy your book based on the design (image) on your cover.
Now it's your turn to tell me what you found of interest in this video.
