When it comes to marketing your business I find many small businesses are completely overwhelmed. They start believing that any "new" or cutting edge strategy is a waste of time. I heard many business owners say that video marketing is not on their agenda. Don't be fooled into thinking Video Marketing is not for your small business. It is and here's why.
As an award winning videographer and photographer I know that using video in your business is one of the best ways to get your message out. Think of it as your 24 hour sales person.
In this infographic I share a number of reasons your business should start using video marketing.
Recently I came across a Cisco Visual Networking Index: Forecast and Methodology, 2013-2018
and here's what they said about video:
"It would take an individual over 5 million years to watch the amount of video that will cross global IP networks each month in2018. Every second, nearly a million minutes of video content will cross the network by2018.
Globally, IP video traffic will be 79 percent of all consumer Internet traffic in 2018, up from66 percent in 2013. This percentage does not include video exchanged through peer-to-peer (P2P) filesharing. The sum of all forms of video (TV, video on demand [VoD], Internet, and P2P) will be in the range of80to 90 percent ofglobal consumer traffic by 2018.
Internet video to TV doubled in 2013. Internet video to TV will continue to grow at a rapid pace, increasing fourfold by 2018. Internet video to TV traffic will be 14 percent of consumer Internet video traffic by 2018, up from11percent in 2013.
Consumer VoD traffic will double by 2018. The amount of VoD traffic by 2018 will be equivalent to 6billion DVDs per month.
Content delivery network traffic will deliver over half of all internet video traffic by 2018. By 2018, 67percent of all Internet video traffic will cross content delivery networks, up from 53 percent in 2013."
When they mention it would take over 5 million years to watch the amount of videos that are available you know what that means? Your videos need to be captivating, engaging and worthy not only to watch but to share.
This is where part of the problem comes in. I met a business owner at a networking event who told me video marketing didn't work for his business. First I asked who created the video (he did) then I asked how many videos he created and where those videos could be viewed. He only created one video, it was not properly optimized and it was poor quality. It's no wonder his video didn't work.
Every time I have a workshop on video I emphasize to my audience that your videos have to all the proper elements in place in order for it to be a success.
The DIY approach is fine if you know what you are doing. When you don't, you wind up wasting more time and money than if you had hired a company like mine to do it for you.
Video is going to get more popular as people want to find their information "on the go."
