Years ago when I started my first business there was no Facebook, twitter or any other type of social networks. Today it's a whole new ball game and businesses who keep up to date are the ones that can stand the test of time. Businesses need to grown and evolve. There's no doubt social media is an important part of your business as you will see from this video. At many networking events I hear from business owners all the time how they don't believe in social media or video. The reasons vary. Some say it takes too much time. Others say video doesn't work (there's a reason why and we'll discuss that in a future post).
If you cannot handle social media on your own then you may need a Social Media Manager. Now the question is what exactly does a Social Media Manager do? Management involves: *Helping people to set up a social network package *Explaining the interconnections between the various platforms *Creating a routine and schedule for posting *Helping to streamline existing routines *Making them more efficient or partially or completely managing all of them I'm sure you can imagine how much work goes in to all of this. Your Social Media Manager needs to have some technical skills, be able to write well and have the discipline necessary to maintain all of this information. Your Social Media Manager also understands that there is are certain ways in which to submit articles, videos and make blog posts. It's important to the success of your business that you have a good online presence. It's not just about you having a fabulous looking website or ranking well when it comes to Google. You must also have a presence on sites like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube. When looking for a Social Media Manager you need someone who is passionate about social media. Their goal is to help your business be a success online. If need be go back to the video above and look once again at some of the statistics such as 53% of people on Twitter recommend products in their Tweets. Wouldn't you like your product or service being mentioned on Twitter? Remember that everyone on Twitter has followers. The more they tweet about you the more other people hear about you. In essence these people are promoting your business for free! Hopefully you'll quickly see just how important social media is to your business and how these sites build your brand.
