Have you ever gone to a page to view a video and it feels like time is standing still? Recently this happened to me. Another photographer hired a professional videographer and posted a video and directed me to the link. What happened was time stood still. After over 30 seconds I did leave the page because the video never loaded.
So how long is too long for a video to load? According to a study done by Ramesh K. Sitaramn University of Massachusetts, Amherst "We show that viewers start to abandon a video if it takes more than 2 seconds to start up, with each incremental delay of 1 second resluting in a 5.8% increase in the abandonment rate." Now you know just how important it is to not only have quality video but a video player that loads almost instantly. There are a number of video players out there but keep in mind that with so many iphones that can't get flash your video player needs to be user friendly to all. How long would you wait for a video to load?
